The case is filled with crystal clear polyacrylamide gel charged with our proprietary PG solution. A magnet and steel plate firmly attaches the humidifier to the underside of the humidor lid. I am fan. The crystals hold water well, the humidity is constant, and it is longer between refills then a traditional sponge. I used Madelaine PG Solution anyway but this is great addition.
